June 2018 Member Survey Results
A couple weeks ago we rolled out the first survey we’ve done in a long time, we need to collect some data so consider this the first of many and your chance to have your
data input matter. We asked just 5 questions this round. We asked if you were a Chiver or Chivette, which age group you fall into, which “H” is most important to you, where you’re located and what types of events you prefer.
132 of you took the 30 seconds to complete the survey, our last survey saw 79 responses so this was an increased response rate of 67%. 132 responses is roughly 1.4% of our total Facebook group member count (8,467 at the time of this posting) and 16% of our roughly 10% active membership rate. *1
The 132 responses 71.2% (94) of the responses were Chivers and 28.8% (38) were Chivettes. Since our last survey this is a 4% increase in Chivers but within our margin of error +/- 5% and falls inline with our expected audience.
A new metric we collected was your age group. Intentionally we separated these age groups into 4 buckets. Under 21, 21 to 40 (millennial), 41 to 60 (gen X mostly) and 61+. There was no surprise here where the majority (83.3%) fell into the groups.
We again asked which “H” was most important to the survey respondents. Since our last survey humanity clearly rose 3.6% to be the dominant “H” with humor falling 8.5% and hotness rising to 9.8%.
Next we asked for your zip code, this was the most important question in the survey. Using your zip code we plotted all the responses on a map (below) to show where our membership is located. The dots are plotted using the geographic center (long. and lat.) of the zip code and overlaid on each other to show density, green for Chiver and purple for Chivette.
Accompanying the zip code we lastly asked what type of events your most interested in. Local bar, charity, brewery/beer bus and sporting (viewing) were clear leaders among the responses with sporting (playing), family outings and large regional meetups less likely for you to attend.
So whats next?
We’re correlating the data by zip code. Why is this important? With the zip code we can tell which areas prefer what types of events so we can tailor the event types to those areas knowing members are local.
Lastly we have more questions. These responses gave us important information to help us plan future events but we need to know more. Keep an eye out the 2nd week of July after the holiday for the next survey, if you don’t want to miss the survey sign up for our newsletter and an email will be sent directly to you when it’s live.
*1 – Active membership rate = a post viewed by a member of the group weekly.
